I have always had an eerie fascination with this historic san franciscan bath house. sutro baths opened march 14, 1896. my best friend’s parents had this painting in their bathroom and today i own one as well. her grandmother swam in this bath house and her mother ice-skated here when it became an ice rink in the 60’s. for prom, we all went to the cliff house restaurant which is situated next to what remains as the sutro bath ruins today. they are a part of the golden gate national recreation area (GGNRA), the largest urban national park in the United States. what i find to be particularly fascinating is that the water is actually said to be the pacific ocean.
