play misty for me 1971

my dad originally introduced me to this film directed by clint eastwood. it takes place in carmel, ca. – an artistically picturesque town set by the pacific ocean that’s lined with art galleries and upscale boutiques. {eastwood was a former mayor of carmel}. evelyn draper {jessica walter} plays the dementedly obsessed fan of dave garver {eastwood}, a disc-jockey of a local radio station. i love the 1970’s fashion in this film – the wide-legged pants, tassel-trimmed ponchos, cross-body purses; and the interior design display of brown leather couches, big lamps and natural materials. there’s even a scene that takes place at the monterey jazz festival, you feel as though you’re really there, which is nice because this film always makes me miss california.
