i finally got around to making a great hot chocolate. and these are the best months to be sipping this spicy hot drink. it’s super easy to make, so i hesitate to even include a recipe. but by adding a little bit of this and that, it’s fun to get creative and create your own special piping hot magic potion! do you have any variations on hot chocolate?

ingredients {serves 1}
• 3 T unsweetened cocoa powder {scharffen berger or peet’s coffee are great}
• 1 T granulated sugar
• a couple shakes of cinnamon
• a couple shakes of cayenne pepper
• a pinch of kosher salt
• a splash of coconut milk
• marshmallows {optional}
• dark chocolate chips {optional}

to do:
boil water in a kettle. in an 8 ounce mug add all the ingredients minus the cayenne pepper, marshmallows and chocolate chips. mix together to form a smooth paste. carefully add hot water and stir mixture. add the chocolate chips, marshmallows and a sprinkle of cayenne. enjoy!
