pearl ribbon collar: do it yourself

December 8, 2011 § 20 Comments

i’m still very much obsessing over the whole collar trend. and i so wanted to make a version like this one, from a collared shirt, but didn’t want to cut up any of the ones in my closet. until i remembered that i had this too-large-for-me, over-sized polo shirt from the hospital of where i used to volunteer at. {i don’t think they’d mind}. i’d never worn this one anyways, it was given to me. so there you have it, how this little diy collar came about! at some point i’d like to do another one of these using a pressed white dress shirt, but like i said, i’m currently getting wear out of mine at the moment.

to do:
1. carefully cut around the collar of the shirt using the hemline as a guide.
2. fold edges in and glue down creating a hollow pathway for the silk ribbon.
3. allow to dry completely.
4. with a safety pin attached to the ribbon end, thread the ribbon through the interior path of the collar until the other end is all the way through.
5. attach pearl adhesives into a pattern of your liking.
5. to wear, button and tie ribbon into a pretty bow ~ piece of cake right?!
