kitty pumps: do it yourself

December 22, 2011 § 22 Comments

marc jacobs inspired these. charlotte olympia too. am i missing anyone? and as you’ll notice, i’m still on the good ol’ neon color-blocking bandwagon, which will likely continue going into 2012. and these black patent pumps have gotten their wear since my college days, so it was definitely time for a makeover.

to do:
1. firmly apply tape to your shoes
2. put shoes in plastic bags allowing the desired painted areas to be exposed
3. spray paint evenly, applying and allowing to dry in between several coats
4. once completely dry, apply a strip of glue along the edge of where the paint line ends
5. attach the appropriate length of hemp cord onto the glue, lightly pressing down and allowing to dry
6. attach small gems with dotted glue for the eyes
7. draw wiskers with the glue pen and sprinkle the glitter onto the glue lines
8. gently tap shoe onto a hard surface to shake off excess glitter
9. swab using q-tips to further touch up
10. let dry and end with finishing spray if desired
