chignon twist: how to

April 25, 2012 § 23 Comments

if you guys haven’t yet tried a chignon with these spin pins yet, you absolutely must. it makes throwing your hair up so simple and effortless. and i must admit, as much as i love a perfectly messy bun, i’ve always seemed to have trouble with perfecting the method. you can pick up a pair of these spin pins here.

steps:
I. loosely gather your hair into a ponytail. twist and wrap around to form a knot.

II. with the base secured, insert one of the pins {with the two open ends facing inward} into a section of the bun and twist moving in one direction.

III. continue to twist until the end of the pin is no longer seen while still holding the bun in place.

IV. insert the other pin {with the two open ends facing inward again} into the opposite section of where the first pin was inserted, and repeat by twisting. when finished, press both of the two pins in slightly and voilà! your chignon should now be secure!

* to remove pins: twist going in the opposite direction so as not to tangle your hair.
