magical mushrooms

can somebody please tell me that i’m not the only one who was unaware of the fact that these mythical mushrooms existed outside of fairytales and children’s books? apparently they seem to thrive here in the pacific northwest which isn’t too shocking considering the amount of rainfall going on right now. i believe these to be classified as amanita muscaria which are said to have hallucinogenic properties and are poisonous. it’s not surprising given their vibrant red color. in any case i just had to share because they are just so pretty!!

Did you happen to catch that news story recently of some people (I think in Washington could’ve been Oregon) who died after eating some poisonous mushrooms. Someone cooked with them and had them in some soup they served.

What’s this?
